Why Can’t We Stop!?
To Prime Minister John Howard,
Why can’t we stop? Why can’t we stop all this war and terrorism that is going on at the moment!? What is the point of fighting? Fighting never solved anything! All that WWI did was cause thousands of casualties and heaps of damage, so why fight in the middle east? What is wrong with all these people!? Do you enjoy your life? Do you like living? I’m sure most of these people you are KILLING enjoy their life too, yet you are cutting them short. Our teachers say to us that fighting is pointless… it doesn’t solve anything, yet you are setting an example for the young kids that are growing up and watching the news with their parents and seeing countries in turmoil and disorder, with bloodshed and dead bodies lying around. These wars have gone on for too long. If you have already read some of my blogs, you will realise that I am much against wars. What is the point? We are a young nation, so many third world countries look up to us and say ‘Wow, I wish my country was like that!’ YOU’RE KILLING OUR COUNTRY JOHN HOWARD!!
Billy Thorpe – Dead at 60
Australian rock legend Billy Thorpe has died after suffering a major heart attack this morning at around 2:30 am.
David Faktor told the Nine Network early this morning that Mr Billy Thorpe did pass away at St Vincent’s Hospital in the early hours of this morning. He understood he passed away from a heart attack. His family was with him when he passed away.
Emergency crews attended his home in Sydney just after midnight (AEDT), where the 60-year-old was suffering from chest pains. He was taken to St Vincent’s Public Hospital, with his family by his side.
He remained in emergency in a serious condition but went into cardiac arrest around 2.30am (AEDT), and hospital staff were unable to revive him.
Thorpe was born in England but emigrated with his family to Brisbane in the 1950s, well known for his hit Most People I Know (Think That I’m Crazy).
He will be sorely missed by heaps of Australians, I just wish that I was around at that time to appreciate his music. I’m sure he will be impressing people up in heaven with his music.
Whinge
I don’t usually whinge, but I just can’t stand watching the news every night and hearing about the war between America and the Middle East. It started with 9/11 where Al-Qaeda decided it was time for the twin towers to no longer exist. I can understand that George Bush would be a bit p***ed off, and America will never be the same after that attack, but what started a war? There was 2,973 fatalities of the terrorist attack all together, yet hundreds of thousands of innocent people have died in the Middle East. What drove them to start a war that has killed more innocent people than the attack that triggered it all? Couldn’t they just hang Osama bin Laden and be over and done with it? They said they found his whereabouts as well! It was so unnecessary to send troops down there and blow everything to bits. What is this world coming to? What happened to the fact you could walk down the street without being affraid of being shot?
My Holiday!
My holiday was very good, apart from the start. My mum, brother and I were driving down the road, and a man in a black ute drove out in front of us. It seemed pretty stupid on his behalf, as it wasn’t even a risk he took, he just drove out, with us a couple of metres away. We were doing 80 ks, and all Mum could do was brake. Luckily, we hit his tray right in the middle, if it was just a metre away each side, he would have been killed or we would have been killed. Mum’s car however, was written off, as you can imagine. I suffered whiplash, Mum’s driver window shattered because of the pressure, and she had some cuts from that, plus some bruises from the air bag inflaiting on her arm, but apart from that, it was just shock. We spent half of the holiday searching for a car and finally got a new Ford Taurus, which is made in Canada. Because of being made for America, it has electronic everything, Climate Control, 6 Stack CD and once you drive over 20 kms, all the doors lock automatically.
I also went to see my Father, Peter. He lives in Ballarat, and while staying with him I went to Kerang (it is a town just south of the northern border of Victoria). It was hitting the 40 degree mark, and it was 100% humidity every day and night, so as you can imagine, I spent most of the days up there in the Public Pool. They’re only on Stage 1 water restrictions up there, because they have the Haddon River and also the Murray inlet, so they have heaps of water. My uncle and auntie (Ian and Carol) own a hotel on the main street, with a pub, bistro, function room and 16 rooms on the second floor. It was so good because if you wanted a drink, you just went behind the bar and poured youself something.
My Favourite Band
My favourite band, with out a doubt would have to be Chumbawamba. You’re probably thinking who the hell are Chumbawamba? Chumbawamba is a band who is thought of having a one hit wonder, but they have made many songs… 59 to be exact to the day. They are a British band, first starting in 1982.
My favourite song in particular is called Tubthumping. It was released in 1997, but the lyrics were written a long time before. My Father, who left my Mum and I and went to Scotland for 4 years used to play it to me in his car. I have many good memories about this song, and I still love it today. It is a very popular song, being used in the movieHome Alone 3, being the theme tune to the ‘98 FIFA World Cup and has even been referenced in a Simpsons episode, with Homer singing the wrong lyrics… like always! This song is often referred to as a ‘beer song’ where it is commonly played in pubs, etc.
Chumbawamba’s music is the kind of music that you sing out loud to; it has very easy lyrics but they are also very clever.
